On May 7, 2024, 10,000 Brains CEO Patrick Brannelly participated in a panel discussion at the 27th Milken Institute Global Conference in Los Angeles, California. The panel session was titled “Pathways to Curing Neurodegenerative Disease.”
The Milken Global Conference brings together the world’s most influential minds to tackle urgent topics and explore promising opportunities. The gathering serves as a nexus where those with capital and influence meet innovators reshaping health, finance, business, technology, philanthropy, industry, and society.
The panel session explored how new discoveries in biology, genetic engineering, and AI are ushering in a new era of progress in the development of better diagnostics and therapeutics for people experiencing neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia, and ALS. It served as a call to action for philanthropists to rethink traditional approaches to medical research and to increase funding for computational approaches to disease research.
Mr. Brannelly said, “The only way for us to find solutions for neurodegeneration is to understand the problem for what it really is. That’s why AI is so important for our field- it can help us to understand the complexities of these diseases. With the help of AI, we can move toward earlier and earlier detection, and intervene with combination treatments before patients experience any problems. This is a really exciting possibility. The science is very challenging, but this is what we’re working toward, and I think we can get there.”
